100 mcg Eltroxin tablets are used to treat hypothyroidism or inadequate thyroid activity, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone (thyroxine) to regulate your body’s growth and metabolism. Hypothyroidism can be idiopathic (of unknown cause) or congenital, as in the case of an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto thyroiditis, where the thyroid gland is destroyed by the immune system. 100 mcg Eltroxin tablets are a substitute hormone for relieving symptoms of hypothyroidism, including fatigue, muscle weakness, cramps, a feeling of cold, palpitations, dryness and flaking of the skin, hair loss, deep hoarse voice and weight gain. 100 mcg Eltroxin tablets are also used to treat juvenile myxedema, which is a clinical condition of edema under the skin and thickening of the skin that occurs in children with thyroid hormone deficiency, usually because their mother is deficient in nutrients. iodine, while in the womb, and who is physically and mentally underdeveloped.
How does Eltroxin work?
100 mcg Eltroxin tablets contain levothyroxine, a synthetic thyroid hormone that is identical to the thyroid hormone thyroxine or T4 produced by the thyroid gland. Levothyroxine is converted into a more active form of the thyroid hormone (T3), which interacts with a specific receptor inside the cells to stimulate the proteins needed to control and regulate various processes, including how the body regulates temperature, metabolizes nutrients and controls growth and development. Thyroxine regulates the production of another hormone called thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which, in turn, controls how much thyroxine is produced. 100 mcg Eltroxin tablets regulate TSH production in the same way and, therefore, make up for the deficiency of endogenous thyroxin (produced by the thyroid gland).
What is Eltroxin in?
100 mcg Eltroxin tablets contain the active ingredient levothyroxine, which replaces the lack of endogenous thyroxin (produced by the thyroid gland) to regulate normal growth and metabolism.
Inactive Thyroid Treatment (Hypothyroidism) with Eltroxin
Eltroxin 100 mcg tablets contain levothyroxine, which is a synthetic thyroid hormone that is identical to the natural thyroid hormone thyroxine or T4, and replaces the lack of thyroid hormone with hypothyroidism (inactive thyroid gland) to regulate normal growth and metabolism. 100 mcg Eltroxin tablets are used to treat idiopathic (unknown cause) hypothyroidism or congenital hypothyroidism, as in the case of an autoimmune disease of Hashimoto thyroiditis, where the thyroid gland is destroyed by the immune system; juvenile myxedema, which is a clinical condition of edema under the skin and thickening of the skin that occurs in children with thyroid hormone deficiency, usually because their mother is deficient in iodine in her mother’s womb, and who physically and mentally retarded. Eltroxin 100 mcg tablets help relieve symptoms of hypothyroidism, including fatigue, muscle weakness, cramps, a feeling of cold, slow heartbeat, dry and flaky skin, hair loss, a deep hoarse voice and weight gain.
What are the side effects of Eltroxin?
Most of the side effects that occur when taking 100 mcg Eltroxin tablets mean that your dose is too high and may need to be adjusted. These include: headache, sleep problems (insomnia), a feeling of nervous or irritated sweating, flushing, changes in appetite, weight loss, muscle weakness / cramps, tremors.

Do not use Eltroxin 100 mcg tablets if you:
allergic to levothyroxine or any of the ingredients in Eltroxin tablets
pregnant or planning to become pregnant
suffered a heart attack, a thyroid disease called thyrotoxicosis, or an adrenal gland problem that is not controlled by treatment
