Healthy liver effortlessly 2020-06-24 Phyllanthus is a genus of flowering plants used in herbal medicine. Commonly used in Ayurvedic treatments, species such as Phyllanthus Amarus and Phyllanthus niruri have long been touted as a safe and effective remedy for liver diseases and many other diseases. Phyllanthus is grown worldwide in tropical and subtropical climates. Available as a dietary supplement, leaf stems and the root of a philanthus plant can be used to make tea, decoctions, tinctures and extracts. Using fresh shoots and leaves, it can also be applied to the skin to treat ulcers and rashes. Phyllanthus has been used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine for over 2000 years, where it is believed to prevent and treat a wide range of diseases: Bladder infections Diabetes Gonorrhea Heavy menstrual bleeding Hepatitis B Infectious Diarrhea Chronic kidney disease Skin infections Urethra infection Liver disease. Scientists have discovered that certain types of Phyllanthus can help prevent inflammation and liver damage. Extracts of Phyllanthus polyphyllus, Phyllanthus Amarus and Phyllanthus indofischeri protect liver cells (the so-called hepatocytes) from oxidative stress when exposed to hydrogen peroxide, stop the progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The extract is not only able to normalize liver enzymes, but also has no signs of fibrosis (scarring) in liver tissue samples. These effects are produced by plant polyphenol, called phyllantine, unique to the genus Phyllanthus. Hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is a form of viral hepatitis that can cause long-term inflammation and liver damage. Back in the 1990s, studies showed that a phyllant from Phyllanthus Amarus can destroy the hepatitis B virus, effectively “curing” users of a chronic infection. Stones in the kidneys. Fillant has long been used in alternative medicine for the prevention and treatment of kidney stones. Plant extract reduces uric acid and oxalate levels in the urine that contribute to the development of stones (suggesting that phyllanthus can also help prevent kidney stones). Cancer. The fillant has antitumor properties that may one day lead to the development of a new class of anticancer drugs. Phyllanthus Amarus is able to slow tumor growth, causing apoptosis (programmed cell death) in a wide range of cancer cells. Unlike normal cells that undergo apoptosis (so that old cells can be replaced with new cells), cancer cells are virtually “immortal” and do not experience apoptosis.
